Eddie Stobart: Trucks & Trailers Series Two DVD
The observational documentary series about the iconic haulage firm, Eddie Stobart, returns with bigger and better trucks and more time-laden jeopardy. Their 2000 drivers cover the distance to the moon and back every day, making deliveries every 4 seconds.

Eddie Stobart’s trucks are a familiar sight on the motorways of Europe and they play a massive role in keeping freight moving across the UK & the continent.

Now the Stobart trucks, with their female names and distinctive livery, are featured in this new DVD release of the second series of the Channel Five series, Eddie Stobart Trucks and Trailers. But this four DVD box set is not just about trucks – it’s also about the men and women that keep the Stobart trucks rolling 24 hours a day.

For the truckers, planners, and bosses of Eddie Stobart, time is money, and jams, breakdowns and empty trailers are cash down the drain.

Stobart make a delivery every 4.6 seconds, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It's a company of five thousand people, driving two thousand trucks, packing three thousand trailers, running two ports, two airports and endless freight trains.

In each episode we tell stories which will have characters facing high stakes. We'll get to know the bosses who watch every penny from the control room and negotiate multi-million pound contracts. We'll see the men and women who move millions of pounds of stock in and out of the huge warehouses and container ports filled with everything that keeps Britain going. But we'll also find out about the quirky traditions and routines that have made Stobarts a national treasure - and even meet the "Eddie spotters" who spend their free time in search of Stobart lorries...

All the time the clock will be ticking. Will they get the fridge trucks to the supermarket before the fresh food goes bad? Can they shave vital minutes - and thousands of pounds - off the time taken to unload and turn around a container ship? Can our tramper get home in time for his son's school play?

This is the story of the people who race against time, all night and day, in the wind, the rain and the snow, to get everything you eat and buy delivered to you.

EPISODE 1

Hazards inevitably crop up along the way and this week a runaway bull stops driver, Ashley in his tracks. The Stobart bosses celebrate the company’s 40th Anniversary by sponsoring a charity ball at London’s Battersea Power Station. A brand new top of the range truck will take centre stage at the star-studded event but when driver Matt crashes the truck en route the best laid plans are in the balance.

EPISODE 2

This episode sees the bosses invest £55million on 750 brand new trucks while the old trucks get a makeover to be sold on the second hand market. Some lucky truck spotters are in paradise after winning an fan club competition to get a sneak preview of the new trucks before the hit the road. One driver decides to go on a healthy eating plan and kick the fast food habit of a trucker’s diet. He is aiming to lose 7 stone – will he achieve it by cutting out the burgers and chips and doing sit-ups in his cab?

EPISODE 3

Driver Fiona hits the road in her 30 tonne refrigerated truck – delivering a gourmet’s delight around the Humberside area. She’s on a high pressure multi-drop with a tight turnaround - and she’s keen not to break her perfectly manicured nails as she wrestles with chickens in the back of her trailer.

Fiona also gets a chance to fulfill an ambition – delivering her boss’ thoroughbred racehorses to Manchester Airport for a flight to Dubai. But it all starts to go wrong when a horse becomes un-tethered in the back of the horsebox.

The lads from Stobart Rail take on a mammoth bridge replacement job in Durham. They have just 48 hours over a weekend to take the old bridge out and put the new one in by Monday morning. With a 100-strong team working 24/7 it shouldn’t be problem until the old bridge looks like it might snap in two.

And Stobart is looking for the driver with the X-Factor to join the prestigious Formula 1 truckers delivering tyres for all the F1 teams for the season

EPISODE 4

The iconic red and green wagons get even greener when delivering recyclable wood to the nation’s power stations. It’s a heavy load and trucker Tim is beset with problems trying not to go over the 44 ton weight limit before he hits UK roads.

Stobart makes inroads into Ireland – sending over 60 trucks to help deliver goods for their new contracts. Dublin driver Aidan is worried his load of glass bottles could end up in the peat bog when Ireland’s country lanes make his trailer start to sway.

And ambitious driver Andy puts himself forward to test out a new trailer but it starts to regret it when he can’t get his speed up on the motorway.

EPISODE 5

One Eddie Stobart trucker takes on a load of 4,000 Easter Eggs. His truck is fuelled by Liquid Natural Gas but with only 4 service stations in England it’s touch and go if he’ll make it to his delivery before it runs out.

Trucker Mark Dixon goes on a magical mystery tour of Britain that sees him battling through the back streets of London and enjoying the delights of Cornwall. He also takes a female Slovakian forklift truck driver out for a spin in his lorry.

Tanker driver Mark Ashurst fears for his safety as he delivers fuel to a rival haulage firm. And he reveals his secret pastime.

EPISODE 6

One in 10 of Eddie Stobart’s drivers is ex-Army and this episode explores the close tie between the company and The Forces. Former Tank Commander Eric takes on the mission of delivering 20 tonnes of paper to Tilbury docks. Having missed Valentine’s day, his long-term partner has a surprise up her sleeve on his return.

Belgian-based driver Paul delivers supermarket supplies to the NAAFI stores at an Army barracks in Germany. Also, he reveals his wild past as bus driver for bands in the 1980s.

The Royal Logistic Corps move into a Stobart warehouse in Cumbria as they dismantle a nearby bridge they erected during the 2009 floods which causes much excitement at the depot.

And Stobart has a recruitment drive – they need 600 more drivers and one ex-squaddie is up for the job.

EPISODE 7

Edward Stobart junior gets behind the wheel of a truck for the first time in readiness for his HGV test. His dad William shows him the ropes but proves to be a nervous passenger.

The Stobart Polo team heads for Spain in a plush horse box they’ve hired to The Prince of Brunei. They stop over at a horse B&B before catching a ferry to France.

Woodchip delivery driver, Tim Fox also has a ship to catch. He has a load of waste wood that is bound for a Swedish power station but the traffic is against him. And it’s trucking hell for driver Ashley when his truck collides with a car on the M1 leaving him shaken up.

EPISODE 8

The Eddie Stobart company takes to the skies as it invests in an airline and launches itself as a player in the airport business. Stobart Air’s fire fighters are like children in a sweet shop as they get delivery of a fancy new fire truck.

Stobart also ventures into delivering timber with their log wagon, Laura Jane, making a treacherous journey into the Scottish forests. Her driver takes his life in his hands negotiating the narrow muddy path. And he shows off his skills in the truck’s on board crane loading tonnes of logs at a time onto the trailer.

And Mark Dixon has some of his load rejected after a pallet of juice is damaged
