Description:
Steam trains predominate in this unique and exciting programme which features rare archival footage together with more recent material. Amongst the many railway lines appearing are Little Kimble, Marlow, Colnbrook and Epping. Onto 1959 and the mainline from Kings Cross, featuring A4s, A2s, and N2s on suburban trains to Moorgate. Class 76 Electrics are shown on the Woodhead line. Also featuring the re-opening of the Isle of Man Steam Railway. The BR Depot at Kingsmoor, near Carlisle, had plenty of steam in 1966, and this is featured with the last steam specials in 1968. A study is made in 1969 of several preserved lines, and finally Sunday Lunch Specials out of Marylebone in 1986, including 4472 and Sir Nigel at Wembley.
