Reginald Dixon was the most famous organist of an era that offered considerable competition. He began playing at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom in 1929, on the newly-installed Wurlitzer organ. That was replaced five years later by a more powerful instrument, and this compilation begins shortly after that event. It features a wide range of music, from light classics to jazz, in the form of six single titles and eighteen medleys, and should delight devotees of the king of instruments. Sound quality is excellent, as is Guy Rowland's informative liner note.
